UNEXPECTED
Winder, Ga.
May 25, 1937
By G. W. S. Ware

Unexpected, mean, not to have in mind.

The course of human life is often interrupted by the unexpected. Human foresight and knowledge is too defective to keep it away. Where little or no government is, man is more alert against the unexpected. Wild animals, by nature, know the unexpected is around the corner and behind every bush; hence, in their way, ready for the unexpected. They expect the unexpected more than civilized man, and meet their fate with less nerves.

God is the only Being that the unexpected cannot reach. When the Lord Jesus Christ was on earth, no combination of men against Him could spring the unexpected to entrap his speech before the people, because He was God the Son; and when His enemies failed in that line, they conspired to kill Him, which they did; but that was not unexpected, for it was known to God before these enemies had their being. Christ’s meekness and silence during His trial was an unexpected thing, so incredible that gentiles and Jews marveled at it. God’s forsaking Christ on the cross was not unexpected, for He knew it in the garden, which caused that agony no human being could endure; but Christ, being God, passed through it, to give man who would believe it the right to pass through the gate into the City of God, in place of being driven into eternity with Satan.

God is in all things that come to those "created in Christ Jesus for good works." Christian, an aweful unexpected thing will come your way, but God will be in it, fear not; to those who live in sin, the same will come. Not God, but Satan, will be in it, to claim you. Leave Satan NOW.
