My three Solomon Friends.

The first one I knew, lived in Jerusalem, several thousand years ago. Through his writings he proved a great friend to me. In my youth, he saved me from the strange women, whose steps taketh hold of hell, going down to the chambers of death. He told me a good wife was from the Lord, and was a good thing, which I have proven to be true; in fact, none of his statements have proven untrue. His wisdom reached heaven, circled the earth and took in the habitation of demons. He taught me that there was nothing in women, fame or money; that earthly things, in themselves were less than vanity. His final instructions were to fear God and keep his commandments.

My second Solomon friend, through The Christian Index, some 60 years ago, did me good as a polished young writer. After the years had made me old, I went to FitzPatrick, Georgia, to see J.C. Solomon, next to King Solomon with me in name. Since the days he was pastor in Atlanta, he has grown touchy about his age. When asked, he will answer: "I will forgive you for asking, if you will forgive me for not answering."

My next Solomon friend is E.D. Solomon, of Florida. These two Solomons are blood kin, and remotely so to King Solomon, who had 999 more wives than either one of them have. Their illustrious predecessor excelled them in wisdom, but they are both Doctors of divinity.

My friend E.D. Solomon, came from Mississippi to Florida in an opportune time for Florida Baptist. For thirty or forty years, The Florida Baptist Witness, had been hobbling along, never able to walk straight on its own feet. Solomon, in a few years shown the wisdom of his noted ancestor, for when it was 50 years in age, he has it looking other self sustaining Baptist State Papers in the face.

Now, abideth J.C. and E.D. Solomon, but for Florida Baptist, the greatest is E.D. Solomon.
