Rev. C. R. Roberts
Lake City, Florida
My dear Brother Roberts:
I type you this letter to thank
you for your hearty co-operation, as pastor of Providence Church, last Sunday during my
sermon and collection for missions and other exercises. Prior to that time I ordered my
Witness changed to this place; hence, I did not see the program for that day as the
Witness had it till I came up here. In my program, I placed brother Harrell to make the
welcome address, not knowing whether you could be there or not. Then, again, I had a
desire to honor your School of the Bible study by honoring its superintendent. The Witness
thought it was improving my program. Before that day I told several people, if they failed
to go, they would miss something which would never be again precisely like it.
I wish to congratulate you on
your eight years as pastor of my old home church. For historic reasons, if not others,
Olustee Churchs house for worship should remain where it is. Territory west and
northwest of Providence Church should have Baptist churches; and to gain that objective,
mission points should be established.
It took a strain on faith on
last Sunday to stand before that overflowing congregation and boldly say: "I want
that twenty cents of my first collection for missions, sixty years ago, multiplied a
thousand times today." I find where the spirit of the Lord is, tehre is liberty and
liberality. As always with God, he gives more than we ask; in the place of $200.00, it was
$268.20.
I believe the spirit of taking
God in as a partner in material things was demonstrated last Sunday, so all could see the
beneficent effects. I have a big job ahead to correlate last Sunday at Olustee in book
form for preservation for the coming centuries.
Thanking you and all those who
helped make glory for Jesus Christ,
