Dear Brother: I stayed outside of the first Baptist church to day, till 10:a.m.,
watching for you, to pick me up, to preach for you at Archer, at 11 oclock. You failed to
get my card, last month, stating I would expect you; or else, the fact sliped your mind.
For either cause, you are excusable, for thereby your people heard a better sermon.
My environments, in prepareing that sermon, were so unique, I am sending you, on a
separate sheet, what I typed off about it, next morning.
I am also, sending you twenty two verses, I wrote, for my 82nd, birthday, 3rd of next
month. Like me, If you ever fall under the spell of a muse, to compose some verses, about
yourself, time or generation, "make me a partaker of your joy."
Old age comes on so insiduously, its arrival, seems strange. It FEELS to me, that I
have a large reservior of the gospel, and a strong spirit to drain it off into the world,
for the glory of God, but my body, is too old for the work.
There is not enough of my generation left, to get a congregation in one place; hence I
believe I am willing to stay out here at one side of life, and do a whole lot of little
things for God. I find them every where. Old age is passing through, a world of little
things God is anxious to have done and none but the old can do them. I now do things for
God, now, that I could not have done while young; and I did things for God then, I could
not do now. Blessed is the person, who stands before God, and things of childhood,
boyhood, young manhood, middle life, mature age and old age: That when such a person
stands alone, before the Lord Jesus Christ, to be judged; these good deeds will come up
and gather around him, to the glory of his wonderful Saviour. Oh yes, there is something
better than that; all the good deeds the Lord Jesus, himself did on earth, will come up
before God, as having have been done by himself, on earth. Its marvelous, that God, will
give us the earthly life of Jesus Christ, as our earthly life before God and the Holy
Angels. I have an appointment for next fourth sunday. First of April, I go to work for
God, six months, in North Georgia.
Some of these days months or years, I know not when, my soul will mount to the Realm on
High and find a refuge there. May the God and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
bless you in your public ministry, in your private life, your secret life, you know
nothing about, if there is such a life.
If you dont mind, lets call each others names before God, in prayer.
Fraternally.
