EGO.

Ego: Self; personality. Self: Ones own person. Personality: That which
constitutes distinction of person.
These enlarged definitions of the word ego, should help us understand what it means. I
am the ego who is trying to type your ego something about our egos, and the egos of other
folks.
This word is not often used, and when it is, is in a derogatory sense. When a man is
infatuated with himself, and makes it prominent whereever possible, some will say,
"Big-head," others more refined will know that his "ego," has him on
his way for a fall, where he cannot help himself to prominence. He was warned, "To
let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth," (Prov. 27:2); but heeded it
not.
Personally, I have had, and still have, more battles with my ego, than with any other
enemy, except Satan, and my ego would give me no battles, if he was not in it. This is no
surprise, it is revealed, and its remedy to every christian (Ro. 7:22-25).
We are commanded: "Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Phil.
2:5)," but how often, even in the house of God, and His preacher speaking for God;
and you would catch your mind lolling in its own ego, a ready weapon for the Devil to
cause you to fight against the Kingdom of heaven on earth in some way or form. When you
find yourself thus, Cry out in your heart to God for help, and He will come to you, to
give you victory, over your ego.
Look through history, and see what an uncontroled ego, has done for men and women, and
be warned that it will do you the same way. It ruined Cain, Pharaoh, King Saul, Jeroboam,
Ahab and Nebuchadnezzar, and wicked, women such as Jezebel, Ahaziah, and others of sacred
and profane history, let their ego, ruin them for time and eternity.
God invites: "My son give me thy heart." When this is granted by any one,
safty from their ego is assured. |
