DEPEND.

Depend: to rely on for support, enjoyment and profit.

Some time in his normal life, man forgets to depend on any thing but himself, which is a mistake, to end in disaster to himself, and to those under his enfluence. Man, whether he believes it or not, is a dependent being, made thus, by his Creator. Men, saint or sinner live and move and have their being in God. This makes any sin a heinous crime. When you catch yourself saying, this is no sin, and that is no sin; because so many good people do them: Look out, The Devil is reaching through, those you think good people, to fool you into hell. Take the embrace of the dance, the thrill of cards, the tast of liquor and the dark Car rides; those in them, do them for the pleasure of sin, in them. Here on earth, they depend on the pleasures of Satan to land them some where, in eternity; or else enjoy sin until they tire, then depend on God. Such is a device of Satan, crowded by human beings, from all classes of society. Satan is certain of a man, if he can prevent him, not to depend on God enough to obey him. Of all things Satan hates, is to be abhored by a human being, who use to love to be his servant to commit sin against God. To fall from heaven as lightning, was bad on Satan, but for one person, to step out against Satan, depend on God, and before earth, heaven and hell, put him to flight, in open combat, is awful for Satan to take. Of all retreats Satan has been compelled to make, he hates to flee from one human being the worse. This is one reason why Satan is so hard on church members, when they go back to live in one or more sins. I have never seen a church member, who went back to depend on Satan, for any thing, succeed with his life, in his service for the Devil.

Satan, cannot depend on a man who hears the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for he knows, That if the man will only just believe it, he will lose that man forever. Satan, his angels and all people, who let Satan seduce them with sin, have nothing but sin to depend on, which is eternal.
