BUOYANT OLD AGE.

By G.W.S.Ware.

July,9,1935.

To day I feel so buoyant, I wish to type my method for health, at 81.

One great cause for health in old age began when I came to years when sex organs became active. I read what God revealed about its abuse and control (Prov. 22:16; 12:4; 7:4-27). Then Ir read Gen. 1:22; 1 Cor. 7:9; Heb. 13:4; Prov. 18;20; Ps. 127:3,4.

All boys of my generation, who heeded not what God had revealed, are now dead. Their sins caused them to suffer on till the pains thereof, took their lives. If I could have been perfect on this line, how my minds would respond, and body carry me on into old age.

Through life, even in my youghful days, I gave my body its regular sleep. I was not perfect on this line, or any other, but I did not carouse, and rob my body of its sleep. I kept intoxicating, and cold drinks out of my stoach, which had sedatives, and very little of the other kind.

Then around sixty years of age, I quit coffee, at one fell stroke, because it made me sick and sallow, and now, up here in old age, I am ruddy.

I tried never to get angry, but often failed, then try again. I have an other rule about anger, I kept: Get in a good humor as soon as possible (Eph 4:20). Never to allow myself not to speak to any one because of dislike, or injury done me. I found this rule GOOD for HEALTH and SPIRIT. I tried never to overwork myself; never to idle life away; never to do useless work. Work hard, with a happy result in view. When I made a mistake I kicked it out of my way, and tried not to repeat it. I tried to live an honest life, with out which, no one can make life successful.

When I got old I had great respect for my stomach, and put nothing in it, to force it to give me pain. It seems grateful, for my care of it, and responded promply to kind treatment. It seemed to say: My kind in people, is the most abused of all my help mates, to keep men alive. Man’s heart, which takes the blood I make for it, often dies from abuse, which forces the blood back on me, and I am drowned.

There is a small group of us, your servants, to keep your life going on earth. We have to take what you send us. If you would send us what we need, it would be our pleasure to give you health, but when you force on us that makes us sick, you are sick with us, and blame one, or all of us for your sickness, when no one is to blame, but your weak self. For the taste of your palate, or to gratify your lust, you force millions of germs (Prov. 7:23) upon us, which finally kills us, and you next. A set of us in some folks are treated right, then it our pleasure to give life, till we wear out by old age. Most of us organs of the human body have a hard time with our owners. The organs of animals receive better treatment, for, if let alone by man, each lives out a natural life.

Since going out of business life, I made me some laws I demand myself to keep.

1- To give God all my old age, for he gives it to me (Ps. 91:16; Prov. 3:2).

2- Not to permit old age sour my life toward God, or man, or myself.

3- Love every body younger, or older than myself

4- Cheer up the older, and encourage the younger, as I meet them.

5- Worship God with his people, in his church, with Christ in control.

6- Pay God one tenth of my income, with joy, and give some of the other

7- Take pleasure to offer a present to God of time and effort.

8- Treat my body with great respect (1 Co. 6:19).

9- Give it the right kind of food, for old age, and not overeat.

10- Keep it clean, and well dressed.

11- Keep it fit for God, and my spirit to use.

12- Give it all the exercise it needs.

13- Never suffer my carnal mind, foul my mind, body and spirit.

14- Keep my body, mind and spirit, trimed for God.

15- Never let my mind grow inward.

16- Make it think strong thoughts for God.

17- To have the mind of The Lord Jesus Christ, to live in my glorified body, brought up from its grave, by the power of God.
