MYSELF, GOING BACK TO MYSELF 46 YEARS.
(1938-1892)
- - - - - -

In the account of my 84, birthday I refer to a sermon on that occasion. Last week I found my sermon notes for that sermon, which I thought was lost 46 years ago. They were written in pencil, and have been folded all these years and look as fresh as if written, yesterday. Unless I make special effort, my handwrite was 50% better than now, but I beat it now with my typewriter. I am typing it verbatim-no corrections.

Text Is 21:11,12 Read Ez. 33.

Dumah, Seir, Watchman, A voice calling

1 Watchman What of the night. Tell us of period before this night began?
2 [Tell] us why some loves the night?
3 [Tell us] is any hope for a morning?
4 Is the length of the comeing day in proportion to its dawning?
5 Can I hasten its comeing? or retard its progress?
6 Tell us about the dark ages (his work, first convert)
7 [Tell us about] the modern missionary movement? Cary
8 Who is behind the morning
9 Will it come and be a perfect day
10 What about the morning cometh and also the night
11 [What about] inquiry, return, come.
12 God chalenges us to put him to the test.

Mal. 3,10

It seemed I did not know, "e" and "ing" were enemies, and that challenge was weak without two ells. The lack of punctuation in parts was caused by hast, for I thought to have another preacher, till time was almost up, so I had to prepare these notes in hast. I think the last point was used to stimulate a large collection; which was $25., cash, the largest up to that time and on till 1938, brought in $258.20, the largest cash collection ever taken in any country church, any where for missions on any ones birthday, or on any other occasion.
