ALTAR.

Alter means a place for the worship of God. It is the primary duty and privlege of
every husband, to make his home, a place for the worship of God. It he fails, it will be a
matter of time, when his home goes down. Family worship, is the oldest collective mode of
worship of God in the world, and is vital now to the interest of the home, in the kingdom
of God, in this world. It is a mode of worship, impossible to have any where else. In a
home with no family alter, Satan plays havoc with where it should be. Go down history, or
your own observations sixty years, if you are old enough, and you can see for your self.
Read the account of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and know, that their wealth and favor with
God and men, sprang out of their family alters. They are the only men of antiquity, who
have known families on earth to day. Jacob, was commanded, to take a journey and set up a
family alter. He purified his family, and did it. Later, if Eli the priest, had purified
his family, set up a family alter, he could have saved the Ark of God from capture, and
himself and sons from death. God, took care of His Ark, but alas, for Eli and his sons.
Sixty four years ago, I knew three christian young men, members of the same local
church, and prospects in life about equal. All of them married, and raised families of
sons and daughters. One of them, took his bride and set up their alter and they prayed and
worshiped God around it fourty four years, till death intervened, when their children were
grown. The other two men, good men, raised their families, out side of a family alter. Was
there, is there any difference? Go ask birds, Sun Moon and stars; but set up a family
alter, for safety, and if you already have one, praise God for it.
