EIGHTY YEARS
Perhaps, some Brethern, whom I used to know, when younger, would like to hear from me
when on top of 80 years. None of your "Witness" readers have heard from me ath
this high point of life. God made me a promise, when I was young, that He would satisfy me
with a long life. Now the exact length of a long human life, with God, I know not; but it
seems to me, the longer it is, the more promises of God it has in it.
Every Christian, while young, should help God to make him old. I do not mean decrepit,
but old in years, bearing fruit to the Glory of God. I believe God has more need to-day,
of old age workers than of any other kind. One reason of it is, so many old Christians
stop work and find fault with those who are younger, or regard their old age as a sign
that God will not appreciate any more work from them; just wait, and do nothing, and go up
to Heaven when they die. This is a mighty ugly dress for death to catch an old Christian
in.
Why did God suffer the years to make you an old Christian? To bear fruit in your old
age; to do a work for God you could not do while young. If you could have, you
wouldnt be here, in old age.
What is this work for old Christians to do? I cannot tell you, but I find it for
myself; just do right for God in old age, and when you get through, God will let you know.
